"I am so excited about the adventure of Awaken Chicago and am privileged to be one of the pastors of this unique community. I became a pastor after 30 years of working in the marketplace. Being a pastor is a different vocational calling, but it is the same mission. When I was in college I heard a speaker say "Sometimes the things that frustrate you the most are the things you're meant to help better." I'm here to help be a part of something that is reflective of the church experience we all want to have, the "beloved community" as Martin Luther King, Jr. called it. I used to think that creatively the Church wasn't the best place to use your talents, now I realize that it's the place where they're so desperately needed. There comes a point where you go from looking for a great church to helping trying to create one, this is that time for me.

The reason that I am excited to serve in this community is that I truly believe that as broken as we are, we are completely invited, and welcomed into God’s kingdom. This is a place that accepts the broken and unwanted. I found my place and my passion to serve authentically and truthfully at Awaken. My healing and restoration happen here and I hope this community can become that place for you as well.
